Language-supported group

The group is intended for young adults aged 18–28 living in Vantaa, who are not in employment or education. The group is especially suited for young people who want to practice Finnish in a safe and encouraging environment. The group is suitable for you if you know the basics of the Finnish language.

The group’s activities are based on goal-oriented, participatory and art-oriented methods. You can practice Finnish in a diverse way through discussions, joint tasks, creative activities, trips and different everyday situations. Participants do not need to have previous experience with art or creative work.

The group sessions will cover themes related to matters such as working life, studies, well-being, health, society, culture and future planning. In addition to strengthening Finnish language skills, the aim is to strengthen participants’ self-knowledge, help them identify their own strengths and develop group work and interaction skills.

Language learning is supported by a special needs teacher's skills, offering participants support in learning Finnish language structures and vocabulary through coaching as well. The contents of the group sessions are planned together with the participants, so that the activities correspond to the needs and goals of the young people as much as possible.

The aim of the group is to support the participants’ attachment to Finnish society, increase cultural understanding and strengthen the skills needed to move on to the next services, studies or working life.

The group will start on November 16, 2026. The group activity days will be Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 9:00 to 13:00. The starting week is the exception, with the activities taking place on Monday, Thursday and Friday.

You can apply to the group from October 1–21, 2026. The application form will be opened on this website later.
