Colourful footprints remind people of schoolchildren’s routes
Schools will start in Vantaa next week. We have painted colourful footprints along schoolchildren’s routes to remind us all that children will soon be back on their way to school. There are also Vantaa light rail worksites near schools, and we want to ensure a safe journey to school for every child.
Vantaa light rail worksite expands on Aviabulevardi
The Vantaa light rail worksite is expanding on Aviabulevardi. The roundabout at Mekaanikontie and Karhumäenportti will be closed to vehicle traffic during the week starting 3 August. Access to all properties will be maintained.
Two Push-Button Pedestrian Crossings on Hakunilantie from 3 August
Two new push-button traffic signals will be introduced in Hakunila on Monday, 3 August 2026, as part of the traffic arrangements related to the construction of the Vantaa Light Rail. The new pedestrian crossing signals are intended to improve the safety of schoolchildren and other pedestrians
Rock excavation works begin at Tikkurila station
Vantaa light rail rock excavation works will begin at Tikkurila station during the week starting 10 August. Some blasting will take place at night, as train traffic is lighter at that time and the works must be carried out around railway operations.
Vantaa light rail worksite expands on Jokiniemenkatu
The Vantaa light rail worksite will expand on Jokiniemenkatu on Monday 3 August. One traffic lane will be closed, and traffic lights will allow traffic through from one direction at a time. The work phase will last for several months.
Crushing of Rock Material Causing Increased Noise to Begin at the Vaarala Depot
The crushing of rock material excavated at the Vaarala depot site will begin in July. The work will generate increased noise levels in the surrounding area. The work is scheduled to start in week 29.

The excavation works currently underway on Hakunilantie will expand to the section between Raudikkokuja and Kyytitie in week 28. Drilling and trench excavation will be carried out in the area, causing significant noise.
Blasting works will affect parking and traffic near Laukkarinne and Kyytitie during week 28
Blasting work will be carried out during the daytime in week 28 in the area connecting Laukkarinne and Kyytitie. The work requires the nearby parking area to be cleared and will cause short traffic interruptions during blasting.
Temporary Traffic Arrangements Introduced on Lemmenkuja
Construction works at the Vaarala depot have progressed to Lemmenkuja, and from week 26 onwards, temporary traffic arrangements have been implemented. These arrangements will be modified as the work progresses.
