One important goal in the Business service’s Talent Vantaa project is to increase the visibility and awareness of different services that are related to integration among newcomers. The idea is also to further develop a “welcoming” culture in the city. For successful integration and for the development of a welcoming culture we need strong collaboration with different actors, for example early childhood education and immigration services all the way to companies, non-profit organizations and their services. That’s why we decided to have the Welcome to Vantaa Event.

What was the event all about?

Talent Vantaa project organized the event on Tuesday the 17th of January in Tikkurila’s library. With the Welcome to Vantaa event, we brought people together. We wanted people to be able to physically meet different stakeholders and representatives of different organisations. The participants could network with each other and enjoy some nice music and coffee and pulla.

At the event, a variety of city services and non-profit organizations (NGOs) introduced their activities and what they have to offer. Besides the information needed about different city services, people also tend to be interested in participating in the work of NGOs as well as different leisure time options (hobbies etc.). Doing volunteer work and having a rich social life helps people to settle down and supports their wellbeing.

All the participants who answered our feedback form said they would join the next event. For more information about the event contact lotta.koivulainen@vantaa.fi.

Talent Vantaa -project is funded by The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment. It is implemented by the City of Vantaa and Laurea University of Applied Sciences.
