Håkansböle Manor Museum opens its doors to the public in Hakunila. The opening week takes place from June 10 to June 14, 2026. Take a peek at the manor's stunning interiors!

The City of Vantaa bought the manor in 2005 and has since been renovating the buildings and the park of the manor. The main building was renovated in 2024-2025 and in June 2026 the opening of the manor museum will be celebrated together with the public.
Architect Armas Lindgren designed the main building that was built in 1905-1908. The manor is a cohesive example of the Art Nouveau style, with Lindgren’s design evident not only in the architecture but also in the furnishings, outbuildings, and the park. The furniture originally designed for the manor has been restored and returned to its original locations in the museum.
Håkansböle manor constitutes a part of Vantaa City Museum. The beautiful manor park is home to Children's Cultural Center Pyykkitupa, as well as the café-restaurant Håkans.
Approximately 700 objects are on display in the main building, including light fixtures, furniture, textiles, and books. The exhibition and objects tell the story of the Sanmark family’s era at Håkansböle.

Would you like to dive deeper into the manor’s stories? You can easily book a guided museum tour for yourself or your group in advance online.
The historic setting provides a beautiful venue for family celebrations or workplace gatherings. Spaces of various sizes are available for groups of approximately 10 to 150 people.
Outside the opening hours, the manor’s beautiful milieu is ideal for wedding and celebration photography. The museum employees will ensure the safety of the premises and collections during the photo sessions.

There are twelve large original tile stoves, designed by Armas Lindgren. During renovation, original patterns and decorative paintings were uncovered and restored for visitors to admire.

Håkansböle's history
Håkansböle manor’s history goes back to the 16th century. In the course of years, the manor has had myriad owners, one of the most famous of whom being Helsinki merchant Johan Sederholm. During his ownership in the late 1700s, the estate included a lime kiln and a brick factory, and King Gustav III visited the manor in June 1775. To commemorate the visit, an elegant pavilion known as the Mutteritalo was built.
In the 1800s, the manor was owned by Lieutenant General Anders Lorentz Munsterhjelm, known as the founder of the Vernissa Factory in Tikkurila. In 1905, the manor was purchased by Lilli and Arvid Sanmark, who commissioned the construction of the current main building. The manor first served as the family’s home and later, from the late 1940s onward, was mainly used as a summer residence.
Håkansböle has been an important employer in its area: initially through dairy farming and agriculture, and later through a market garden operation. Flowers and vegetables grown in the manor’s greenhouses were sold at Helsinki’s Market Square.
