News

Vantaa Music Institute and Vantaa Art School are Finland's largest institutions of basic art education. In April you can apply for the school year 2025–26. Education is organised by the City of Vantaa and is primarily aimed at children and young people.

The Music Institute has around 1,900 students and the Art School has around 800 students. The main teaching centre of the institutions is in Tikkurila, in the cultural centre Orvokki. There are also smaller teaching places around Vantaa. The teaching offer varies by teaching place.

Studies progress from one level to another following the basic art education curricula. The studies have different study paths. The path can be aimed at a lifelong hobby or professional studies. The teachers are highly qualified music pedagogues and visual arts teachers. In addition, both institutions offer high-quality teaching facilities and equipment. The studies are fee-based, and students apply for the entire academic year.

The focus of studying visual arts is on developing visual perception, thinking and expression skills. Students can practice their skills with many different techniques and materials. The Vantaa Art School admits applicants to groups in the order of registration based on their year of birth. Studies can continue from one school year until the student turns 20. The language of instruction is Finnish.
