Participatory budgeting projects progressing in Myyrmäki
Participatory budgeting includes residents in discussing, planning and deciding on how common tax money will be used. Myyrmäki begins to carry out the projects that the local residents voted for in 2022.
The sum of €50 000 will be spent on altogether nine different projects during 2023.
Projects to be carried out
Atmospheric seasonal lighting €5000
Seventeen seasonal lights will be installed in the surroundings of Myyrmäki station.
Flower meadows €1500
Löydöspuisto was chosen as the meadow, and it has undergone additional planting. It will take several years until the meadow begins to have flowers.
Picnic places in the park €4800
Picnic places will be created by the summer in Löydöspuisto and Naapuriniitty.
Planting trees and bushes €15000
Twenty-one trees will be planted in Myyrmäki parks and street landscaping by the summer.

Trash-picker loaning service €500
Myyrmäki citizens' house now has trash pickers and safety vests that the residents can freely borrow for trash picking. You can fetch the trash pickers at the citizens' house during its opening hours, that is, on weekdays from 9:00 to 15:00. The citizens' house will be closed on June 23 - August 6, during which time trash pickers cannot be borrowed.
Group exercise and guided outdoor gym activities €2000
Guided outdoor gym activities and group exercise will take place in Myyrmäki sports park during the summer months. Read more about the summer exercise program.
Movie picnic in Myyrmäki €6000
Free-of-charge outdoor movie and picnic will take place on August 31. In case of bad weather, the event will take place on September 4. The participants shall bring their own snacks, chairs, and blankets.
Summer park activities and Puistonuorisotila (“park youth center”) €3700
A container will be placed in Myyrmäki sports park for the summer, which will offer, among other things, possibilities of testing various hobbies and workshops. The activities are financed by participatory budgeting. Read more about the summer program.
Development of trash containers €7000
Five to ten trash cans will be replaced in Myyrmäki center and along routes leading to the center. The residents’ wishes (60 L, 60 L with an ash container, 140 L) will be accounted for to the extent possible. Replacing the trash containers will progress as of late 2023.
Participatory budgeting to cover the city as a whole
Participatory budgeting will be implemented throughout the city during 2023. As of late 2023, residents all over Vantaa can submit ideas about how they want to develop their own surroundings or the city’s services.
