The Statement of Facts exhibition is the first joint exhibition by artists Diego Bruno and Minna Henriksson, set in Vantaa Art Museum Artsi from 23 September 2022 to 8 January 2023. The name of the exhibition borrows a legislative term used in court cases to describe factual information – both favorable and unfavorable to the case at hand.

In the exhibition, the artists examine political subjectivities and collective commitment. The artists’ work in the exhibition is heavily based on research, archival work and collaboration. In their art, they bring out marginal histories, structural racism and political struggle. Locality, political leftism and anti-fascism are significant factors in their work.

Minna Henriksson has produced two new artworks for the exhibition, which form a dialogue between history and the present day. The exhibition includes an installation about the underground resistance and war deserters during World War II, focusing on Vantaa and Myyrmäki.

Another installation revolves around a forgery of Russian avant-garde artist Ivan Kliun’s (1873-1943) work. The forgery has been borrowed for the exhibition from the Crime Museum of the Finland's National Bureau of Investigation in Tikkurila.

The video and photos by Diego Bruno examine the political movements in Bolivia between 2003 and 2019. In his works, Bruno studies the impossibility of fully capturing the experience of political struggle, as something is always left out when those experiences are described. The exhibition also includes a number of drawings from the ongoing series Interruption.

Diego Bruno and Minna Henriksson, both of whom work in Helsinki, are also active in the global field of contemporary art.

Exhibition opening will be held on Thursday, 22 Sep at 5–7 pm.
