Urban culture house town planning starts – residentsʼ meeting on 25.10.
The cityʼs urban cultural centre in Myyrmäki is one of Vantaaʼs flagship projects. The project consists of two separate buildings and an event square connecting them. The cultural centre project will be implemented in stages between 2023 and 2031.
In 2028, the Myyrmäki educational centre will be completed, which will house a youth center, an adult education center and a music school for cultural and leisure services.
The new building will be located next to the Myyrmanni shopping center at Iskostie 5. Subsequently, Paalutori Square will be renovated into an event square for outdoor events.
The transformation of Myyrmäkitalo building into an urban cultural center will not begin until 2028, when the Artsi art museum and the library, among other things, will have new, expanded premises. During the construction work, the services of Myyrmäkitalo will be temporarily housed in the new educational centre building. The cityʼs cultural center is expected to open in 2031.
The City of Vantaaʼs cultural centre project is of regional and even national significance. Locally, the goal is to improve the services and cityscape of the Myyrmäki center. The local detailed planning of land use will guide the design of office space and traffic solutions.
Resident meetings and other opportunities for residents to have an impact
The participation and assessment programme has been published for the upcoming planning process. The programme is open for comments until November 30, 2023. Comments can be sent by email to kirjaamo@vantaa.fi or by letter to the City of Vantaa, Registrarʼs Office, PB 1100, 01030 Vantaa.
The content of the participation and assessment programme will also be presented at a residentsʼ meeting open to everyone on Wednesday, October 25 at 17:30-19:00 in the dining room of Vaskivuori High School at Virtatie 5.
There will also be an online brainstorming session open to everyone, where people can give their ideas on what they would like to see in the new educational institution building, cultural center and Paalutori Square. The brainstorming session is a resident survey where you can also comment on the ideas of other participants, allowing residents to brainstorm together on the development of the city and its services.
More information on the project and how to participate can be found on the local detailed planning page of the urban culture house.
