Flooding in Varistonoja in Vantaa and Niipperinoja in Espoo will be reduced by water management structures – event for residents explaining the measures on 1 February
The water quality of Lake Pitkäjärvi will be improved and floods in its catchment area will be reduced by implementing natural water management structures at selected sites in Vantaa and Espoo. These measures will be discussed in an event for residents organised on Thursday 1 February.

A resident survey conducted in May collected residents' experiences of flooding and eutrophication problems in the Pitkäjärvi catchment area. The information will be utilised in a project to find solutions for the area’s problems by means of natural water management.

The health authority has discontinued its recommendation to boil water. All water samples are clean, and water can again be used normally.

The water boiling recommendation has been given on 15.9.2023 at 21.00. Water in must be boiled for at least 5 minutes before it can be drunk or used for cooking. Before cooking, drain water from the tap so the chlorinated water exits the house.
