Korso disposition plan has been made available for public inspection - familiarize yourself with the draft disposition plan online and in a residents’ event on December 12
A disposition plan has been devised for Korso center, according to which the area will be developed over the next decades. The disposition plan covers the area from Kulomäentie in the south, Ankkapuisto in the west, Leppäkorpi school in the north, and Otavatie in the east. You can voice your opinions on the disposition plan until January 4.
A disposition plan outlines where and how many new business premises, public services, park areas, and new passageways can be planned for the area, as well as how transport and parking will be arranged in the area. The aim is to expand Korso center toward the east and south of the current center. Another wish is to reform the present city center, which is planned to be turned into a pedestrian center with brick-and-mortar services.
The disposition plan specifies what has been planned for Korso area in the local master plan covering Vantaa as a whole. The disposition plan dictates compilation of smaller local detailed plans devised for the area. Unlike the local master plan and local detailed plans, the disposition plan is not yet a final document, and nothing can yet be built based on it. The actual final planning decisions are made later, in several local detailed plans devised for the area. Local detailed plans are made by utilizing the principles presented in the disposition plan.
When preparing the disposition plan, the City of Vantaa arranged a survey of residents’ wishes for developing the area. The survey took place at the turn of the year 2022-2023, and it was responded to by around 1 050 people, of which around 450 answered all the questions in the survey. The rest of the respondents answered part of the questions. The responses especially wished that the center be developed, since it has rundown buildings. The respondents also wished for, among other things, more cafés and other meeting places, as well as something new in the so-called Toyota area, situated along the railway, to the north of Peltomyyränkuja.
In addition to the resident survey, the city arranged in March 2023 a residents’ evening and business forum where different options for developing Korso were presented and the opinions of both residents and entrepreneurs were heard. The residents’ opinions have been accounted for when compiling the draft disposition plan, now completed.
The disposition plan has been made available for public inspection, and you can tell your opinions on it until January 4, 2024. The venue is Monitoimikeskus Lumo, address: Urpiaisentie 14.
The opinions gained during the period of Korso disposition plan’s public display will constitute the foundation for potential changes in the plan, after which the final version of the plan is submitted for the approval of the Urban Environment Committee and the City Executive Board.
