Hakunila major region

Preparatory works related to the construction of the Vantaa tramway will begin in early April in the area between Lahdenväylä and Hakunilantie. These works include, among other things, tree felling, removal of stumps and topsoil, preparations for changes in traffic arrangements, and removal of surface structures. In addition, equipment essential for the upcoming construction will be brought to the area, which will be visible to residents as increased construction traffic.

Impact on vehicle traffic and parking

Parking spaces will be temporarily removed from the parking areas around Hakunila shopping centre during the preparatory works. Parking spaces on the western side of Laukkarinne and some street-side spaces along Liinakkokuja will also be taken out of use. Notices requesting vehicle relocation have been placed in the parking areas, and housing company property managers have been contacted separately regarding parking arrangements. Residents will be informed separately about any alternative parking arrangements.

The intersection area between Laukkarinne and Kyytitie will be closed to vehicle traffic towards the end of April. A detour to Laukkarinne will be arranged via Hakunilantie, starting from Hakunilantie 54. Clear signage will be provided for the detour.

Impact on walking and cycling

The construction works will affect pedestrian and cycling routes in the area. Exact detours will also be indicated on-site with signage, as routes may undergo short-term changes as the work progresses. The pedestrian and cycling bridge (Hakunilanraitti) crossing Kyytitie will be demolished. Demolition work will begin on 16 April, after which pedestrians and cyclists will be redirected to alternative routes. More detailed information about the demolition and detours will be provided closer to the start date.

Bus stops

Changes will be made to bus stops in the area. HSL will provide more detailed information closer to the time of the changes.
The Pitkäsentie bus stop V9411 will remain in use, but access to nearby properties will be redirected to the pedestrian and cycling path along Kaskelantie. A new access route will be built from the future tram stop once the project is completed.

Actual construction in the area will begin if the Vantaa City approves the alliance’s phase two implementation agreements in April. More detailed information will be provided closer to the decision.
