The 2024 Endurance Sports Challenge lets you participate in five endurance events in Vantaa over the course of the year with just one registration. There is a varied set of events coming throughout the year, so you can focus on training instead of searching for competitions. In order to succeed in the overall competition, athletes must train for skiing, running, cycling, swimming and orienteering.

In 2024, alongside the traditional series of the Endurance Sports Challenge, there will also be a trial series with the same events and rules but slightly shorter distances. Both include women’s and men’s series.

You are eligible for the overall competition of your series if you finish in at least four of the five events.

The City of Vantaa will reward the best in each series at the Vantaa Marathon on 12 October 2024. All participants who finish in at least four events will also receive a certificate for their participation.

If you want to participate in all five events, register by 29 February 2024. Otherwise registration is open until 28 May 2024.

Corporate customers can also pay by invoice.

The organisers reserve the right to make changes, which will be communicated immediately upon decision.

Rules of the Vantaa Endurance Sports Challenge

1) The Vantaa Endurance Sports Challenge consists of pre-announced events, which in 2024 are the Vantaa Ski, the Vantaa Off-Trail Challenge, the Vantaa Triathlon, Tour of Seutula and the Vantaa Marathon.

2) The competition series and trial series of the Vantaa Endurance Sports Challenge have general series for women and men.

3) Registration is open until 28 May 2024. Contestants who also want their Vantaa Ski result to count towards the Endurance Sports Challenge competition series or trial series must register for the overall competition no later than 29 February 2024.

4) In order to participate in the overall competition, the contestant must participate and finish in at least four events. There are a total of five events.

5) Score calculation in the overall competition considers the best four scores in each event. The winner of each event receives 100 points. The score of the other participants is formed as a percentage by comparing their time with the winner’s time. For example, if the runner-up’s time is 10% slower than the winner’s time, they will receive 90 points for the event. However, each participant will receive at least 10 points. The winner is the competitor with the highest overall score at the end of all events (separate series for women and men). In the case of a tie, the number of first places decides, and if they are also tied, the decision is made on the basis of the number of second places, etc.

Score calculation example
Competitor Result Time in seconds Time % slower than the winner Score
Competitor A 1 h 00 min 3600 s 0 % 100
Competitor B 1h 10 min 4200 s 17 % 83
Competitor C 1h 30 min 5400 s 50 % 50
Competitor D 2h 00 min 7200 s 100 % 10 (minimum score)

6) The City of Vantaa will award prizes to the top three contestants in the women’s and men’s competition series of the Endurance Sports Challenge. The prizes for the winners are free participation in next year’s Endurance Sports Challenge. Runners-up will get half off the participation fee for next year. In addition, the top three will receive prizes related to the City of Vantaa’s wellbeing services. The best competitor in the women’s and men’s trial series will win prizes related to the City of Vantaa’s wellbeing services. Everyone who finishes in at least four events will receive a participation certificate.

7) The organiser of each event will serve as its chief referee.

8) The points awarded for each event and the winners of the overall competition of the Endurance Sports Challenge will be published at vantaa.fi/kestävyyskierros.

9) The award ceremony of the Vantaa Endurance Sports Challenge will be held at the Vantaa Marathon on 12 October 2024.
