Outdoors
Kuusijärvi is a place of recreation for the whole nation where you can enjoy the sauna, swimming and nature all year round. Kuusijärvi is a gateway to Sipoonkorpi National Park.
Outdoor activities
Exercise trails
Kuusijärvi offers several illuminated exercise trails that serve as ski tracks in winter and as walking, running, and cycling routes during the rest of the year. Some of the ski tracks are designated as shared-use routes. These areas are marked with signs. These include the Sudentassu light‑traffic bridge, which is shared by skiers and other outdoor visitors during winter.
Bicycling
Cycling is allowed on Kuusijärvi’s excercise trails with consideration for other users. Cycling on the beach area is not permitted. You can start your bicycle ride from Kuusijärvi and take the Sudentassu bridge to get to Sipoonkorpi National Park. Bicycling in the national park is allowed on the clearly distinct paths and roads.
Sudentassu bridge (“Wolf’s Paw”)
The Sudentassu light‑traffic bridge was completed in 2019 and improved connections from Kuusijärvi to Sipoonkorpi National Park. The distance from the Kuusijärvi parking area to the bridge is approximately 1 km.
Accessible campfire site
The campfire area includes one covered grill with a chimney, two open fire pits, picnic tables, scenic decks, and waste bins. Firewood is available in limited quantities, so bringing your own is recommended. A 300‑meter accessible path leads to the campfire site, starting from the beach smoke sauna.
Outdoor activity areas
At Kuusijärvi, you’ll find two outdoor gyms, a beach volleyball court, a basketball court, a sledding hill, and a children’s playground.
Rules of Kuusijärvi
By following these rules, we keep the area pleasant for everyone.
Outings in nature
Move around on foot, by skiing, or by bicycle. Cycling is not allowed through the public swimming beach. Please use marked trails and routes to help protect the natural environment.
Dogs
Dogs are allowed in the area but dogs are not allowed on the swimming beach (the sandy beach and lawn area). Assistance and guide dogs are allowed everywhere in the area, including the swimming beach. Dogs must always be kept on a leash.
Litter-free hiking
Waste bins are located in the parking area, at the beach, and at the campfire site. There are no bins on the trails — please take your rubbish with you.
Fishing
Fishing is not allowed at the swimming beach. Outside the beach area, rod fishing and ice fishing are permitted under everyman’s rights.
Lighting fires
Kuusijärvi has one official campfire site. This area includes one covered grill with a chimney and two open fire pits. During a forest fire warning, fires are allowed only in the covered grill.
Camping
Camping and overnight stays (including tents) are not allowed on the swimming beach or in other public areas. Kuusijärvi is best suited for day trips. The Sudentassu Bridge leads you to Sipoonkorpi National Park. The nearest camping and campfire site in Sipoonkorpi National Park is in Bisajärvi (3 km).
