Instructions Regarding Waiting ListsEven if you are not immediately accepted into your top-choice school, follow these steps:
|
Enrolling at Your Educational Institution
Simply accepting your placement offer is not always enough. Each school has its own specific procedures for completing the enrollment process.
- Check the Instructions: The institution may ask you to select your courses online or visit the campus in person. Check the school’s website, your email, or your text messages for detailed instructions.
- Ask for Help: If you are unsure about what to do, call the school’s admissions office or registrar’s office.
- If You Are Unavailable: If you are traveling or otherwise unable to handle enrollment yourself, you can authorize a relative or someone else to complete the process on your behalf.
- Institutions in Vantaa: You can find compiled information regarding enrollment practices for schools in Vantaa on the city's official joint application website.
What Happens During the Summer?
- Waiting Lists: The period for being accepted from a waiting list ends on August 14, 2026.
- Changing Schools: After mid-August, you can contact educational institutions directly to inquire about available spots if you wish to transfer—for example, to a school closer to your home.
School Counselors at School in June
School counselors (opo) are available to assist you once the joint application results are released.
- Support for Those Without a Placement: A counselor will remain at the school until they have met with every student who did not receive a study placement.
- Reach Out: You can contact a counselor if you do not receive notification of your results or if you need assistance with the enrollment process.
How to Contact Kilteri School Counselors:
- Counselors will be available on Thursday, June 11, and as needed in the following days.
- The best way to reach your counselor is by email.
Transfer of Student Information from Primary to Secondary Education
When a student transitions from comprehensive school (grades 1–9) to a new educational institution, information essential for their studies is transferred forward. This is based on the Compulsory Education Act, and parental consent is not required for this transfer.
How is the information transferred?
The data is transferred via a Wilma transfer form in August. The form is sent to the school where the student will begin their studies (e.g., high school or vocational school). The school completes the form, and it is visible to the guardian.
What information is transferred?
| Student Group | Transfer Protocol |
|---|---|
| Students with support decisions | If a student has a valid decision regarding learning support, the transfer form is always completed. |
| Other students | If there is no official support decision, information is transferred only if it is essential for their studies. In these cases, the teacher fills in the section: "Other pedagogical information essential for studies." |
| Other situations | If the student has no specific support needs, information is not transferred automatically. |
In short: The school transfers only the information that the new institution strictly needs to provide the best possible education for the student.
Transfer Form Completed by Student and Guardian
Instead of an automatic transfer, other 9th-grade students complete a separate transfer form following instructions from their guidance counselor (opo).
- How is it delivered? The student and guardian deliver the form to the new educational institution themselves.
- Why is it important? This form provides the new school with information about previous studies. The more information the school has, the smoother the start of studies will be in the new environment.
