Cultural youth work is youth work involving art and culture. In Vantaa, cultural youth work is carried out in Kulttuuritehdas Vernissa and regionally by taking services to places where young people are, such as youth centres and schools.
Kulttuuritehdas Vernissa, which is the centre of cultural youth work in Vantaa, is located in an idyllic environment in Tikkurila. Vernissa provides a great setting for a wide range of cultural and recreational activities. The activities organised by Vernissa are mainly intended for adolescents and young adults. Each week, approximately 250 people visit Vernissa to participate in various creative activities, such as animation, music, visual art, video art, street dance and theatre classes.
More than 200 cultural events are organised in Vernissa annually, as well as dozens of other events. Approximately 35,000 people participate in the events and activities organised in Vernissa every year. Kulttuuritehdas Vernissa has concert and theatre venues, studios and band facilities, art rooms and a café.
Young people can also learn more about culture through free recreational activities organised by youth services. There are a variety of activities involving music, visual art, crafts, media, video art and animation.
