New housing, more green spaces, and more cultural offerings in downtown Myyrmäki
The center of Myyrmäki will undergo significant development in the coming years. The goal is to make the downtown area more cohesive, pleasant, and safe.
Several blocks in the center are being redeveloped simultaneously. At Liesikuja 7, for example, two new apartment buildings are planned to replace the current office building.
Shops and other commercial spaces are planned for the ground floors of the new buildings. Instead of office spaces, the upper floors would contain residential units.
Although the old commercial spaces will give way to residential units, it is ensured that shops, restaurants, and other services will remain in the city center. At the same time, consideration is given to the business community and the vitality of the city center.
More greenery and flowers in Myyrmäki
In addition, two new parks will be built in the city center. Following the plan amendment, the old Liesitori will be transformed into Liesipuisto. At the residents’ request, it will be transformed into an age-friendly park of Myyrmäki.
Above all, residents wanted more greenery and flowers, as well as accessibility and safety in the park. Additionally, the green area next to Tuurapolku will become Tuurapuisto.
The city is investing in culture and recreational activities
Around Palutori, the Myyrmäki Urban Culture House is being built in two phases.
The first building, “Oivallustentalo,” is scheduled to open in early 2029. This facility, focused on leisure activities, will house the Vantaa Adult Education Center, the School of Visual Arts, the Music School, Vantaa-info, the Totem Children’s Cultural Center, as well as the youth center, community center, and a movie theater.

Elämystentalo will house the Vantaa Art Museum Artsi and the Myyrmäki library. Elämystentalo can be realized either as a new building on the site of the current Myyrmäki House or by renovating and expanding it.
Improving the safety and comfort in the station area is already underway
Work to improve safety and comfort in the station area has been underway since 2025. In 2026, the plan is to improve lighting, accessibility, cleanliness, and comfort in the station area.
Some of the planned changes have already been implemented. For example, the dilapidated footbridge and the stairs leading to it on Liesikuja were demolished in September 2025. Similarly, the Paalukylä Park was renovated and the lighting along the walkways was improved. This year, the renovation of Artsinpolku will be completed.
