Last Thursday, 28th of May, the city of Helsinki, launched in close collaboration with the cities of Espoo and Vantaa, its new spouse program. The program is the cities’ initiative to support companies in the capital region with the retention of their international talents.

”We all know how important international talents are for our local organizations to stay successful in a highly competitive, national and international market.” says Jochen Faugel, the project planner of the Spouse Program, while explaining that the most common reason for foreign employees to move back to their home countries, are the challenges their partners are facing when trying to integrate, often lacking much needed support. The goal of the Spouse Program is to encourage and to help the spouses of international employees to settle in, both socially and professionally.

The online kick-off event last Thursday, with over 90 participants and the 50 spouses who signed up to the program within less than a month, clearly demonstrate the need for this initiative.

Your company can join the program at any time – Promote it internally to the spouses of your international employees or become an active collaboration partner. If you are interested and want to learn more about the program and partnership opportunities please reach out to jochen.faugel@hel.fi

”Talent Boost – International Talents Accelerating Growth” is a joint project implemented by the cities of Helsinki, Espoo and Vantaa, the Helsinki Region Chamber of Commerce, Helsinki Marketing, Helsinki Business Hub, Aalto University, Hanken School of Economics, the University of Helsinki and Haaga-Helia, Laurea and Metropolia universities of applied sciences.
