The City Council approved the expansion of the swimming hall at the Myyrmäki Sports Hall
The Vantaa City Council met on Monday, 23 March, to consider initiatives submitted by councillors and residents. In addition, the council approved the expansion of the Myyrmäki Sports Hall and the zoning plans for Rusokallio in Hakkila.
In 2025, a total of 63 council motions were submitted. Most motions concerned the urban environment sector (27) and the corporate management and vitality sector (25). The number of submitted motions decreased by approximately one-third compared to the previous year 2024, when 90 motions were submitted.
In 2025, a total of 26 resident initiatives were submitted to the city for consideration. The number of initiatives is slightly higher than the previous year, but compared to earlier years the number has declined (2024: 19; 2023: 44; 2022: 42; 2021: 48; 2020: 51). The initiatives mainly focused on the urban environment sector, to which 18 resident initiatives were directed.
Resident initiatives can be submitted via the kuntalaisaloite.fi service or delivered in writing to the City of Vantaa Registry Office by email or post. Resident initiatives and the responses to them can be viewed at www.kuntalaisaloite.fi if the initiative has been submitted through the service.
A larger swimming hall for Myyrmäki, a local recreation area for Rusokallio, and jobs
The zoning plan amendment for the Myyrmäki Sports Hall enables the expansion of its swimming hall. The expansion responds to the area’s growing population and increased use of the facility.
In Rusokallio, Hakkila, a local recreation area as well as plots for industrial, warehouse and office buildings will be developed. At the same time, the boundaries of Hakkilankulma Park and the street areas of Old Porvoo Road and Valkoisenlähteentie will be adjusted.
The council meeting is still ongoing. The agenda includes responses to motions submitted by council members.
