City council ratified the inflation adjustment of trustees’ remuneration rule
In its meeting on August 19, 2024, Vantaa City Council ratified the inflation adjustment of the city’s trustees’ remuneration rule. Trustees’ fees will be increased by 20%, and the fees will be tied to the consumer-price index. At the same time, the boards’ annual fees will be standardized. The trustees’ remuneration rule was last revised eight years ago, in 2016. At the time, not all the fees were revised; only some individual changes in them were made. The reform enters into force after the municipal election, when the new council begins operating on June 1, 2025.
The city will compile an anti-corruption program.
The city council’s meeting also approved the principles of arranging the City of Vantaa's risk management and internal auditing, as well as the principles of preventing corruption. In addition, the city council decided that an anti-corruption program be devised for the city.
The purpose is to ensure that the operating models for risk management, internal auditing and preventing corruption be applied to the entire city organization with the same grounds and principles.
The principles will enter into force on September 1, 2024.
The first jubilee-year decision gives Vantaa City Museum a permanent historical exhibition
The city council, furthermore, made the first jubilee-year decision of Vantaa’s 50th anniversary year: that is, that the city museum gives a permanent exhibition of the region's history over 10 000 years.
A sum of €200 000 is granted for planning and implementing the exhibition. The financing is divided into the years 2025 and 2026. The exhibition will open to the public in 2026.
The city council will make five decisions in honor of Vantaa's jubilee year during the fall. One Vantaa 50th anniversary jubilee decision will be made in the city council's each meeting in the fall. The series of these jubilee-year decisions will reach its climax in the city council’s jubilee meeting that will take place on December 16.

The meetings also handled city councilors’ initiatives regarding Kolohonka's club premises, crisis-management veterans, inequality, the city's parks, financial risk charting, Nurmimäentie's traffic safety, as well as digital and self-directed learning methods.
