We have opened a new pedestrian route in Tikkurila
Vantaa light rail works are ongoing in Tikkurila. This week, we opened a new pedestrian route in Tikkurila next to the City Hall. Different work phases affect the boundaries of the worksites and the routes through them, and our aim is always to ensure that routes remain as smooth and convenient as possible.
The pedestrian route opened this week, viewed from the direction of the temporary bridge.
We opened a new pedestrian route in Tikkurila this week. The new route provides a much more direct connection to the northern parts of Kielotie, for example from the City Hall. The route is shown in light green on the map. It begins at the temporary bridge behind the City Hall.
The route is particularly interesting because it partly runs through the terrace area of Restaurant Punto e Pasta. Together, we have adapted the terrace to better accommodate pedestrian traffic, and the route is now fully accessible. The previous accessible route was located on Lummetie, further away than the new route. Please note that cycling is not permitted on this new route. The cycling route will continue to run via Lummetie.
"Our aim is always to ensure the smoothest possible routes around our worksites. However, construction in Tikkurila is challenging because space is limited. In many areas, extensive municipal engineering improvements are also required. As a result, worksite boundaries and surrounding routes change as different phases of the project progress. We are pleased that we were able to open this new route this week," says Deputy Project Manager Atte Heiskanen of Destia.
