Rock Drilling and Excavation Works Causing Increased Noise to Continue on Hakunilantie
Rock drilling and excavation works that began in June on Hakunilantie, between Kyytitie and Tammapolku, will continue. The excavation works need to be extended beyond the original estimate, as more bedrock than anticipated has been encountered within the work area, increasing the extent of rock excavation required.
Drilling and Excavation Locations and Schedule:
- September 2026: Intersection area of Hakunilantie and Kyytitie. Rock drilling and trench excavation.
- September to October 2026: Eastern side of Hakunilantie, between Raudikkopolku and Tammapolku. Rock drilling and trench excavation.
- September to November 2026: Western side of Hakunilantie, between Raudikkopolku and Tammapolku. Rock drilling and trench excavation.
Approximate locations of the drilling and excavation works are shown on the map above. Trench excavation refers to excavation carried out in a long, narrow excavation.
Drilling and excavation works causing significant noise will be carried out on weekdays between 7:00 and 18:00.
Impact on traffic during works
Traffic will be temporarily stopped during certain work phases for safety reasons. The duration of each traffic stop will be a maximum of 8 minutes. An audible warning signal will be given in the area before these operations.
Vibration monitoring
Vibrations caused by the works will be monitored on site by a consultant specializing in such operations. Vibration meters will be installed in selected nearby properties defined by the consultant. The owners or operators of these properties have been contacted separately regarding the installation of the meters. Excavation of large boulders does not cause noticeable vibrations in the surrounding area.
