Vantaa City Council had its first meeting in 2023 on January 30. The meeting ratified the alteration to the local detailed plan for Viertola city block of high-rise residential buildings as well as designating an unbuilt industrial lot in Hakkila as overall development of the area.

Mayor Ritva Viljanen disclosed at Meidän Vantaa (“Our Vantaa”) participatory budgeting seminar that Vantaa will invest €1.2 million in participatory budgeting during this and the following year. Vantaa will compile principles for implementing participatory budgeting in the course of the spring.

Adoption of the grant-application system postponed to spring 2023
In 2022 and early 2023, the City of Vantaa's grants must be applied for through the old OmaVantaa system. The new grant-application system will be adopted in the spring of 2023.
