Adapted wellbeing mentoring
Introduction
The personal mentor provides motivating support for change and guidance for lifestyle habits that promote wellbeing. The guidance takes individual disabilities, background and goals into account. You will receive support in starting to exercise or adapting physical activity, increasing physical activity in everyday life, nutrition, sleep and recovery, for example.
The wellbeing mentor is a health and exercise expert. However, please note that the service is not a form of rehabilitative activity, such as physiotherapy.
Prerequisites
Criteria for adapted wellbeing mentoring and who the service is for:
1. You are motivated to make lifestyle changes and have the resources to make changes in your everyday life.
2. You are not physically active enough in terms of your health and your physical activity needs to be adapted due to an illness, disability or other limitation in physical functional capacity.
3. The service is also suitable for those with an underlying condition. The important thing is that your illness is under control.
4. Severe mental disorders may prevent participation in the service if they impact the ability to commit to the guidance or primarily require other treatment.
The primary languages of the service are Finnish and English. The service is also available in other languages with the help of an interpreter.
Referral to the service
The service is being trialed in fall 2025 at a health center and housing unit of the services for the disabled. The implementation locations and method of referral will be specified later.
