Winter swimming
Kuusijärvi is the most popular beach in Vantaa in summer but people also swim at Kuusijärvi in winter. In the winter, you can find an ice hole with steps and some unheated changing rooms at Kuusijärvi beach. You can get warm in the Kuusijärvi smoke or electric saunas before dipping into the ice hole. The electric saunas are open daily from 9:00 and smoke saunas from 13:00. If you wish to dip in without getting warm, you can find unheated changing rooms on the beach. You can find more changing rooms behind the children’s playground.
There is also a cabin called Karhunpesä (“Bear’s den”) on the beach which has heated changing rooms for winter swimmers. You can purchase a key for Karhunpesä from Vantaa-info in Tikkurila. Karhunpesä is open for winter swimmers who hold a key during the winter swimming season from 1 September to 15 May.
