Learning languages in basic education
In Vantaa, students take English as their A1 language (starting from the 1st grade) and Swedish as their B1 language (starting from the 6th grade). The guardians and their child can choose together which additional, free-choice languages the student wants to learn in comprehensive school.
Wilma – communication between home and the school
In Vantaa, the Wilma application is used for cooperation between the home and the school.
Accidents and insurance in schools and educational institutions
Pupils and students are insured in school and during trips to and from school. The insurance also covers other activities in line with the national curriculum, such as trips, camp school, afternoon activities, and school clubs.
School health survey
School health survey provides national follow-up data on 10 - 20-year-olds’ wellbeing, health, social inclusion, and experiences of receiving service, and it is implemented in the spring of uneven years all over the country.
Application as a TEPPO student
The application period is from 8th of January until 17th of March 2024. The students of the school’s 7th and 8th grades can apply.
Children and young people to plan Vantaa light rail by playing a game
Children and young people in Vantaa are invited to participate in the planning of Vantaa Light Rail with an online and mobile game. The game and game instructions are produced in Finnish, Swedish and English.
Participation and influencing opportunities at school
The students are taking part in planning and developing the school operations, and they gain the experience of being heard and becoming valued members of a community.
Mikkola School
Mikkola School is located in Korso. There are about 930 pupils studying in grades 1.-9.
