Compulsory education
Children living permanently in Finland are required to attend school. Compulsory education begins at the beginning of the school year in the year in which the child turns seven. Compulsory education will end when a young person has their 18th birthday, or when they have completed an upper secondary
Involvement and influencing in upper secondary school
In upper secondary schools in Vantaa, students are encouraged to be actively involved during lessons, within the school, and on the local and national levels as well.
Child friendly Vantaa to receive an action plan of its own
Vantaa City Executive Board had its last meeting this year on December 12, 2021. The meeting ratified the City of Vantaa’s Child Friendly City 2022-2023 action plan, confirmed the results of the youth council election, and decided to apply for membership in the EU Commission’s 100 Climate-Neutral
The Child Friendly City Initiative
The City of Vantaa is now a Child Friendly City. Finnish Committee for UNICEF granted the City of Vantaa the Child Friendly Cities recognition in January 2024.
