Construction of the New Bridge over Porvoo Highway Progresses in Länsimäki – Night Work in Weeks 40–41
Construction of the Vantaa light rail is progressing in Länsimäki, along Länsimäentie and in the area surrounding the bridge over Porvoo Highway. Over the coming weeks, changes will be made to traffic arrangements, and structures for the new bridge will be installed at the construction site.
Next week, the lanes on Porvoo Highway will be widened to provide more space than at present. After the changes, the traffic lanes will be approximately four metres wide in each direction. The new arrangement will improve traffic flow past the construction site ahead of the next phase of work.
During week 41, the bridge beams for the new bridge will be installed at the construction site. The work will take place overnight from Wednesday, 7 October, to Thursday, 8 October.
The night work is intended to minimise disruption to traffic. However, the work may cause temporary delays on Länsimäentie and near the Porvoo Highway junction area. People travelling through the area are asked to follow the construction site signs and allow more time than usual for their journeys.
The construction work is part of the Vantaa light rail project. New street and bridge infrastructure required for the light rail is being built along Länsimäentie and in the area surrounding the bridge over Porvoo Highway.
