Construction of the light rail on Länsimäentie
Follow the progress of light rail construction from Fazerila to Mellunmäki. In the future, the light rail will run along Länsimäentie to the Mellunmäki metro station.
The construction sites on Länsimäentie are in the areas of Vaarala and Länsimäki, near Rajakylä.

June–August 2026
- At the northern end of Länsimäentie, relocation works for municipal infrastructure, water pipelines, gas and electricity are being carried out, resulting in minor changes to traffic lanes.
- The section of Länsimäentie between Rajakentäntie and Keihästie is closed to traffic. Traffic has been redirected via Pallastunturintie. The arrangement also applies to bus routes that previously operated along Länsimäentie. The street section will remain closed and the detour in use until September 2027.
- The first tram tracks for the Länsimäentie section will be installed near the intersection of Länsimäentie and Fazerintie in July 2026.
- Construction work on the bridge crossing Porvoonväylä is underway.
Noisy work in June–August 2026
- Sheet piling works will begin near the bridge crossing Porvoonväylä, and blasting work is also underway in the surrounding area.

You will receive information about possible water supply cuts and disturbances in water supply directly from Helsinki Region Environmental Services. HSY will inform about outages on their website, via text messages and paper notifications.
