Rock excavation works in Kirjastopuisto continue at the end of August
Vantaa light rail works are ongoing in Kirjastopuisto. Next, we will continue rock excavation works in the light rail tunnel excavation. Intermittent excavation works in Kirjastopuisto will continue until next winter.

Vantaa light rail works are progressing in Kirjastopuisto. The temporary access ramp to Tikkuparkki was introduced in July, and since then works in the area have included excavation and municipal engineering works. Next, we will continue rock excavation works in the tunnel excavation.
According to current plans, rock excavation works in Kirjastopuisto will continue during the week starting 24 August. Noisy activities include rock drilling and blasting. Some noise will also result from the removal of excavated rock. All excavation work is carried out within a closed worksite area. According to current plans, intermittent excavation works in Kirjastopuisto will continue until next winter. We will provide separate updates on excavation works in other areas.
Work is also being carried out near the access ramp to Tikkuparkki, and traffic controllers will stop traffic on the ramp when necessary. The stops are brief, and Tikkuparkki will operate as normal throughout the construction period. Traffic controllers and supervisors ensure the safety of the area before every blast.
A special warning siren is used to alert people to upcoming blasting. A discontinuous siren will sound 10–120 seconds before a blast. After blasting, a continuous 3–10 second siren will indicate that the blast is complete. The siren can be heard in the area surrounding the worksite. At the time of blasting, supervisors secure the area and, if necessary, stop pedestrians and vehicle traffic so that blasting can be carried out safely.
Noisy work is carried out on weekdays between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. For justified reasons, work may continue until 8 p.m. We aim to schedule noisy activities at times that minimise disturbance. Earplugs are available from Tikkurila Library. The works have been commissioned by the City of Vantaa and are carried out by Destia. We apologise for any inconvenience. We are currently also carrying out night-time excavation works beneath the tracks at Tikkurila station, and these works have been communicated separat.
