Summer exercise program published
Join your favorite gym class or try something new — the summer program offers plenty of choices. Most summer sports and exercise activities are free of charge.
Vantaa's summer exercise program offers plenty of choices for Vantaa residents of all ages.
This year’s novelty is open water play sessions for families, which will take place in June in Tikkurila, Hakunila, Martinlaakso, and Myyrmäki swimming halls.
During the water play sessions, participants can freely try the swimming hall’s equipment, such as diving toys, swim fins, rubber ducks, kickboards, and pool noodles. Please note that the activities are not instructed. You can participate in the water play sessions with a regular swimming hall admission ticket.
Guided exercise summer season begins on Monday, May 11
Guided exercise is arranged from May 11 to August 21, 2026. However, there will be no classes from June 18 to August 2, 2026. In addition to indoor and water gymnastics classes, outdoor guided exercise is also provided. Moreover, we also offer short courses in weightlifting and “Getting to Know the Gym” classes.
Most of the summer program is free of charge and does not require advance registration. Please note, however, that the water aerobics classes have a participation fee of €3, in addition to the swimming hall admission fee.
You must register for the short courses in weightlifting in advance. Furthermore, the gym admission fee must be paid for the weightlifting and “Getting to Know the Gym” courses.
Park Fitness Festival offers up to three hours of exercise
In the Park Fitness Festival, you can take part in up to five popular outdoor exercise classes. The program includes Lavis, park fitness, body care, and Zumba classes. You can attend all sessions or choose individual classes. You can find the more detailed program on Vantaa’s hobby calendar. These feel-good, free-of-charge fitness events do not require advance registration and will be held at:
- Monday, June 1, at 16:00-19:20, Tikkurila Swimming Pool lawn (Läntinen Valkoisenlähteentie 50)
- Tuesday, June 2, at 16:00-19:20, Myyrmäki Swimming Pool lawn (Myyrmäenraitti 4, 01600 Vantaa)
In case of rain, the festival takes place indoors.
Ball-games in volunteer-guided exercise groups
Sports volunteers organize exercise groups throughout the year. During the summer, the groups play sports such as volleyball, Finnish baseball, and soccer. The free-of-charge groups take place in various parts of the city. Come and enjoy exercising together with people in your neighborhood.
Compete and cycle in the Vantaan Kortteliliiga (“Vantaa Neighborhood League”)
The Vantaa Neighborhood League offers summer competitions in soccer, tennis, basketball, beach volleyball, and mölkky (Finnish skittles).
The neighborhood league's summer challenge is cycling. Hop on your bike and see how much you can ride during the challenge!
Senioripaku (“Senior Van”) brings exercise to the elderly all around Vantaa
Once again, the Senior Van brings outdoor exercise classes and yard games close to older Vantaa residents. This summer, the Senior Van will tour Vantaa from May 4 to June 18, 2026, and again from July 14 to September 25, 2026.
You will find the stop locations and schedules on the Vantaa Activities Calendar. The Senior Van’s activities are free of charge, and no advance registration is required. The Senior Van will run regardless of the weather.
Test your endurance and fitness or measure your body composition
Free-of-charge body composition measurements are offered to over-18-year-olds throughout the summer. You can register for the measurements as of April 20, by calling 09 8392 4601. We recommend that you call on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at 9:00–11:00.
Free-of-charge fitness tests and walking tests are arranged in May-August in Tikkurila and Myyrmäki. The one-kilometer walking test is intended for adults aged 55–79 and provides information about aerobic fitness and functional capacity.
The fitness tests are primarily targeted at over 55-year-olds. We offer various tests and measurements that allow you to, for example, measure your grip strength, muscular fitness, and mobility. You may choose which tests to participate in or take part in all of them.
