Vantaa tram terminus at the airport to be located on Terminaalitie
Vantaan kaupunginhallitus hyväksyi kokouksessaan 8. kesäkuuta Vantaan ratikan lentoaseman päätepysäkin sijainnin Terminaalitielle ratikan jatkosuunnittelua varten.
The City of Vantaa’s Executive Board approved, at its meeting on 8 June, the location of the Vantaa tram terminus at the airport on Terminaalitie to support the further planning of the tram project.
The Vantaa tram alliance and Finavia have jointly prepared a proposal for the tram terminus at the airport. In the Terminaalitie option, the stop would be located along Terminaalitie at street level, approximately 300 metres from the airport. The tram line would be extended by 1.1 km, with an estimated cost of EUR 26–28 million, depending on the exact location of the stop. The estimate is close to the project’s target cost, and no significant additional cost risks are expected in implementing this option compared to the other alternatives reviewed.
The Vantaa City Council approved the revised project plan for the Vantaa tram in November 2025. At the same time, the council granted the Vantaa tram alliance a mandate to plan the tram line all the way to the airport in cooperation with the airport company Finavia. A decision on the final location of the airport terminus will be made by the end of 2027.
