Payment of start-up money

On this webpage, you can find instructions for applying for the payment of start-up money. You can apply for payment after you have received a positive start-up money decision and started business operations.

Applying for the payment of start-up money and the required appendices

Apply for the payment of start-up money retroactively, one month at a time. The payment application must be submitted within two months of the end of the payment period. If you do not apply for the start-up money by the deadline, the payment application will expire and you will not receive the money for the payment period in question.

You must submit a revised tax card for benefits, Start-up money, as an appendix to your first start-up money payment application. If you do not submit a revised tax card for benefits, the start-up money will be subject to a 25% tax.

Please also submit the other required appendices for the first payment application. The required appendices are:

  • A copy of the trade register notice, if you are obligated to make one.
  • A copy of the articles of association of the general partnership or limited partnership, or a copy of the limited company’s founding agreement and articles of association.
  • A certificate of registration in the prepayment register, if you are not obligated to make a trade register notice.

The employment office may use data from the Incomes Register in the processing of the payment application and may subtract gratuitously paid benefits from the subsequent payments.

The payment of start-up money is subject to Chapter 9, Section 20 of the Government decree on public employment services (385/2024).

Reporting changes in information on the start-up money payment application

As a start-up money recipient, you are obligated to notify the employment office of any changes that occur after the decision has been made, such as accepted paid labor while acting as an entrepreneur or a sickness absence.

Start-up money payment schedule

The City of Vantaa pays start-up money twice per month. If your payment application does not make it in time for the first date of payment of the month, it will automatically be moved to the next one.

Start-up money payment application with a paper form

If using the Local Government e-Services is not possible or you do not have the necessary tools for strong identification, you can apply for payment using the printable form, which you then deliver to your employment office.

If you have applied for start-up money using the printable form instead of the e-Services, you should also use the printable form for applying for payment. If your municipality of residence changes after the start-up money decision has been made, apply for payment from the employment office from which you have received the positive decision.
