The magic of storytelling at Mosaiikki urban culture center
The Storytelling Open Mic event tradition continues in the fall at Mosaiikki urban culture center in Kivistö.
You can come to storytelling events to tell stories or just listen to others.
The relaxed events are hosted by musician and songwriter Annie Trippah, who performs her own work at the end of each event. The storytelling events are open for you to tell stories about everyday things or life-changing experiences. You can also join the events to simply listen and enjoy the international atmosphere. The events are held in English.
The event is open for more than just storytelling, so you can also take the stage to perform music or recite poetry, for example. Book your turn to perform (max. 10 min) via email at the address mosaiikki@vantaa.fi or in person at the event if there are still slots open at the time.
Special program during Week of Older People
During the Week of Older People, the event rises to new heights as stories are told in many different languages. The stories are interpreted for the audience in a relaxed atmosphere. The event includes speakers of at least Finnish, English, Russian, Spanish, Swahili and Bulgarian, who will help interpret the stories for the audience in English.
There are also special numbers in store at the event. Voice of Finland participant and Vantaa artist Arto Eskelinen will perform French chansons and Satumaarit will perform Spanish songs. Satumaarit Laaksonen is participating in the Laila ja Olavi song contest final, in the women's senior series. She is a familiar face for many in Vantaa, as she is the karaoke hostess at the city's citizens' houses. Satumaarit, Juhani Rautiainen and the band will provide the music for the monthly Toiveikkaat päivätanssit dances at the Myyrmäki senior citizens’ center.
