Construction of the Light Rail from Hakunila to Fazerila
Follow the progress of light rail construction in Hakunila, Vaarala and Fazerila. In the future, the light rail will travel from the Kyytitie junction along Hakunilantie towards Vaarala, passing through Kuussilta and Fazerila.
The construction sites are in Hakunila and Vaarala. Along the route of the forthcoming light rail, you’ll find landmarks such as Hakunila Shopping Centre and the areas of Kuussilta and Fazerila.

Progress of construction
Information will be updated as construction progresses. The preliminary schedule may change due to weather conditions, for example.
June–July 2026
- Utility relocation works will be underway in Hakunila throughout the summer.
- Renovation of the Hevoshaantie underpass will take place from June to December. The underpass will remain in use during the works.
- At the southern end of Hakunilantie, drilling and blasting works causing significant noise will be carried out from June until the end of 2026.
- On Hakunilantie, drilling and blasting works causing significant noise will take place from June until the end of October.
- Construction of water supply infrastructure will begin on Tilustie in June, and a temporary detour route will be introduced during the works.
- The overpass bridges on Hakunilantie will be dismantled in June.
- Hakunila shopping centre overpass: 14–15 June 2026 between 23:00–04:00, during which the road will be closed to traffic.
- Raudikkopolku overpass: 21–22 June 2026 between 23:00–03:00, during which the road will be closed to traffic.
- Hevoshaanpolku overpass: 14–15 June 2026 between 23:00–04:00, during which the road will be closed to traffic.
- Ground stabilization works at the intersection of Talkootie and Lähdepuistontie in Vaarala will begin in late June using soil stabilization methods.
August–November 2026
- A preloading embankment to strengthen the subsoil will be constructed on Tilustie in the autumn.
- The preloading embankment built in spring on Rivieranraitti may be removed, allowing the start of tramway substructure construction.
- Preparatory construction works will begin on Fazerintie in the autumn.
December 2026 – January 2027
- The estimated start of the bridge replacement over Ring III (Kehä III) is December 2026 – January 2027.
