Preparatory works for the Vantaa light rail begin in Pakkala
Preparations for constructing the Vantaa light rail are underway in the Pakkala area with the relocation of a power line. The current 110-kilovolt power line running along Tasetie will be moved underground as a cable.
Construction of the Vantaa light rail will start in the Pakkala area during 2026. As the future light rail route will pass through the location of the existing 110-kilovolt power line on Tasetie, the overhead line will be replaced by an underground cable at a new location.
The new underground cable will be placed on Krakantie, Elannontie, Vantaanportinpolku and Muuntopolku, where it will be connected to the Tammisto substation.
The planned start for the work is during spring. The exact timing will be specified later and depends, among other things, on when the ground frost has melted.
Electricity distribution will operate normally throughout the work. Any possible outage related to the connection will be separately announced. The work will not affect routes to Jumbo or electricity distribution.
The work will be carried out in one area at a time and will temporarily impact the access routes to some properties. The network company carrying out the work will provide more detailed information to nearby properties regarding upcoming plans.
The route of the underground cable to be installed is about 1.8 kilometers long. Its future route is marked in yellow on the map.
The 400-kilovolt power line pylons dominating the landscape along Väinö Tannerin tie will remain in place. The pylons of the 110-kilovolt line will be dismantled once the light rail construction sites have been established in the area.
