Blasting works causing significant noise to begin in April on Länsimäentie near the bridge over Porvoonväylä
Blasting works will be carried out on both sides of the bridge over Porvoonväylä on Länsimäentie during April, causing significant noise in the surrounding area. The works are scheduled to begin in early April and are expected to last approximately two months. The works are part of earthworks related to the construction of a new bridge in the area. Prior to the start of actual blasting, rock wedging work will continue at the site during March.
Noise-intensive blasting will occur intermittently over the two-month period alongside normal construction activities. Work phases will be carried out on weekdays between 7:00 and 18:00. Blasting operations are primarily scheduled between 10:00 and 14:00 on weekdays, but in special cases, some individual blasts may take place between 18:00 and 21:00.
Impact of blasting on traffic
For safety reasons, traffic will be temporarily stopped during blasting. The interruption typically lasts approximately 5–8 minutes. An audible warning signal will be given in the area before each blast.
Vibration monitoring
Vibration caused by the blasting works will be monitored on-site by a consulting expert in blasting operations. Vibration meters will be installed in selected locations in the surrounding area as determined by the consultant. Property owners or operators of these locations have been contacted separately regarding the installation of the meters.
We advise those moving in the area to allow extra time for travel. If particularly disturbing indoor noise is experienced in nearby properties, you may send a message to ratikka@vantaa.fi , and hearing protection will be provided if necessary.
