Drilling and rock excavation works causing elevated noise levels to begin in the area between Lahdentie and Liinakkokuja

News

Rock drilling and rock excavation works will begin in September in the area north of Kyytitie, between Lahdentie and Liinakkokuja, due to a rock formation uncovered during construction. The works will cause noise and vibration in the surrounding area. The drilling and rock excavation works are scheduled to start in week 38 and are expected to continue until November 2026.

Drilling and rock excavation activities causing elevated noise levels will be carried out on weekdays between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Effects of Blasting Operations

For safety reasons, traffic on Kyytitie and Lahdentie will be temporarily stopped during blasting operations. Traffic interruptions will last for a maximum of eight minutes.

Before each blast, an audible warning signal will be given in the area to alert people of the upcoming detonation.

Vibration Monitoring

Vibrations caused by the rock excavation works will be monitored by a consultant specializing in blasting operations. Vibration meters will be installed at locations in the surrounding area determined by the consultant. Property owners and operators of the affected sites have been contacted separately regarding the installation of the monitoring equipment.

We encourage people travelling through the area to allow extra time for their journeys due to temporary traffic interruptions. If particularly disturbing indoor noise is experienced in nearby properties, please contact us at viestinta@vantaa.fi. Hearing protection can be provided if necessary.
