Vantaa's Kuusijärvi

Kuusijärvi has Vantaa's most popular swimming beach, which is open in summer and winter. The beach has a sandy bottom and a designated children's area.
Swimming in summer
Kuusijärvi is the most popular beach in Vantaa in the summer. It is a very popular destination for swimmers of all ages as well as sunbathers. Please be prepared for crowds at the beach and car park during hot summer days. Come cool off!
Kuusijärvi has a public beach, a grassy area and piers. The lakebed is sandy and the shoreline is approximately 150 metres long. An area between the pier and shore where the water is no more than about 1 metre deep has been marked specifically for small children. At the end of the beach piers, the water is about 2.5 metres deep on average. The lakebed is sandy up until the end of the piers where it turns muddy.
Services on the beach in summer include café and restaurant services with a terrace, ice cream kiosk (weather permitting), changing rooms, outdoor shower, two outdoor gyms, children’s playground as well as volleyball and basketball courts.
The city of Vantaa provides a lifeguard for the summer season. The Kuusijärvi water quality is monitored regularly. Bathing dogs at Kuusijärvi beach is prohibited.

Kuusijärvi is the most popular beach in Vantaa in summer but people also swim at Kuusijärvi in winter. The popularity of going to sauna and winter swimming has increased in Finland and winter swimming has become an enjoyable hobby for people of different ages. You can bump into winter swimming enthusiasts at Kuusijärvi beach already early in the morning. Come take a dip in a chilly ice hole!
