Invitation to Resident Information Sessions – Construction of the Vantaa Light Rail Begins on Hakunilantie
According to current plans, construction of the Vantaa Light Rail will begin on Hakunilantie in spring 2026. We will organise resident information sessions about the upcoming street construction works: one in Vaarala Chapel (Kirkkokuja 2) on 23 February from 18:00 to 19:00, and another in Lehtikuusen School (Hiirakkotie 9) in Hakunila on 25 February from 18:00 to 19:00. Welcome to hear more about the project and to discuss how the construction work will affect the area.
Construction of the Vantaa Light Rail will begin in three locations along Hakunilantie in spring 2026. The work will start with changes to traffic arrangements and preparatory works, such as defining and fencing off the construction areas. The work will then continue with the construction of water supply infrastructure and cable relocations. In addition, blasting and rock excavation work will take place near Kuussillantie to widen the street area.
We will provide more detailed information about routes and traffic arrangements well before the start of construction.
The construction work on Hakunilantie will continue throughout the entire light rail project until 2029 and will cause temporary detours that change in phases. Some work phases will cause noise.
Preparatory works will also begin at the Vaarala depot site in March. These will include tree removal and other activities that prepare the area for the main construction work.
