Works on the Vantaa light rail are progressing in Kirjastopuisto. Rock excavation works in Kirjastopuisto began in February and are, according to current plans, set to continue until summer. Excavation works will later also take place elsewhere in the tunnel construction area, and these phases will be communicated separately.

Noisy work phases include rock drilling and blasting. Some noise is also caused by handling loosened rock. All excavation is carried out within a closed worksite area. The worksite area is marked yellow on the map and the excavation area in orange.

A warning siren is used before blasting. A discontinuous siren will sound 10–120 seconds before blasting, and a continuous 3–10 second siren will sound after blasting to indicate it has ended. The siren can be heard near the worksite. Supervisors secure the area and stop pedestrians and vehicles when necessary to ensure safety.

Working hours are weekdays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and exceptionally until 8 p.m. We aim to schedule noisy work to minimise disturbance. Earplugs are available from Tikkurila Library. The works are commissioned by the City of Vantaa and carried out by Destia. We apologise for any inconvenience.
