Work causing significant noise will begin near Kaskela during weeks 29 and 31
The construction of the Vantaa Light Rail near Kaskela area is entering a phase that will cause more noise than usual in the surrounding area. Sheet piling work on Kyytitie, near Pitkäsentie and Lahdentie, will start in mid-July, followed by hammer drilling in late July.
Noise-intensive work will begin on the Vantaa Light Rail construction site on Kyytitie on Monday, 13 July 2026, in the area located between Pitkäsentie and Lahdentie.
The work involves sheet piling, which is expected to generate elevated noise levels. In addition, hammer drilling related to temporary stormwater management will be carried out during the week beginning 27 July and will also cause significant noise.
During the sheet piling work, steel sheet piles will be installed to support future excavations in the area. These structures help keep the soil in place and enable safe working conditions. During the temporary stormwater hammer drilling work, a route will be drilled through the ground to Kormunniitynoja, bypassing the actual culvert construction site.
Sheet piling will be carried out in several phases between July and September, with short breaks between work periods. Based on current estimates, the first phase will take place from 13–17 July, the second from 29 July–7 August, and the third from 24 August–1 September. A further sheet piling phase lasting approximately two weeks is also planned for September, with the exact timing to be confirmed later. All sheet piling work in the area is expected to be completed by October at the latest.
The temporary stormwater hammer drilling is currently scheduled to begin on 29 July and is expected to last approximately five working days.
Noisy work will be carried out on weekdays between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
