You can now borrow exercise equipment with your library card
You can borrow exercise equipment with your own library card at altogether four libraries in Vantaa. Selection is wide: ranging from footballs, to kettlebells, to trash-pickers.
The City of Vantaa libraries and Sports Services have launched an exercise-equipment loan service. Borrowing exercise equipment is free of charge – you only need to have a library card. You can borrow, among other things, basketballs and footballs, kettlebells, walking poles, and resistance bands. In addition, the selection offers various season-related equipment, ranging from snow racers to Mölkky (somewhat similar to skittles).
You can familiarize yourself with the library-specific equipment selection on the City of Vantaa’s website, as well as on the Helmet online library.
You can borrow exercise equipment from Tikkurila, Hakunila, and Lumo libraries, as well as Koivukylä citizens' house. Borrowing exercise equipment from the Koivukylä library takes place in such a way that you borrow them at the library, get a receipt for them, and pick up the equipment from Koivukylä citizens' house upon the receipt you got from the library.
The loan period of exercise equipment is two weeks. You cannot reserve or renew the equipment.
The exercise equipment has been acquired as part of the Lähiöt liikkeessä (“Suburbs on the Move”) project. The loan-service trial will continue till the end of 2025. The aim is that, after this, the loaning service becomes a permanent service at all Vantaa libraries.
