City Executive Board approved the needs assessment for Ilola School and the project plan for Ojaha School
At its first meeting of 2026 on 12 January, the City of Vantaa Executive Board approved the needs assessment for the renovation and partial new construction of Ilola School, as well as the project plan for the Ojaha comprehensive school, pre-primary education facilities and a sports hall. In addition, the Board decided to make the zoning amendment for Puutarhatie in Koivuhaka publicly available.
The Ilola school buildings, completed in 1987 and 1993, are in need of renovation. After the renovations and partial replacement with new construction, the premises will meet current and future functional requirements and needs, while also improving the efficiency of space use.
The estimated project cost is €16,680,000. Construction is planned to start in autumn 2027 and to be completed by the end of 2028. During construction, the school will relocate to temporary facilities at the Kytöpuisto school pavilion.
Teaching facilities and a sports hall planned for Ojaha School
In Myyrmäki, on Ojahaantie, subject-specific classrooms are needed for lower secondary school students, as well as basic learning facilities for grades 1–9 and premises for pupils requiring individual support (special education).
The first phase of the Ojaha comprehensive school is also needed to replace the teaching facilities at Kilteri School’s Sanomala unit.
Additionally, two pre-primary education groups are required in the area to strengthen and support cooperation between pre-primary and early primary education. These groups will replace the Ojaha daycare centre. The sports hall will meet the service needs of the area.
Local recreation area and outdoor route planned in Koivuhaka
At Puutarhatie 47 in Koivuhaka, zoning is planned for premises supporting the activities of Jehovah’s Witnesses as well as housing. The buildings will range from three to five storeys.
The buildings will be adapted to the sloping terrain, and valuable tree stands will be preserved. A local recreation area and an outdoor route to Tikkurila Central Park will be planned in the northern part of the area.
