Recipients of Vantaa's 2021 cultural prizes chosen - to be published on November 10, at Cultural Gala
Vantaa city executive board had its first face-to-face meeting after more than 18 months when its members assembled at the City Hall on Monday, October 25, 2021. The meeting decided to make the Länsimäki disposition plan available for public inspection.
In addition, the city executive board ratified the needs assessment plan for Varia’s Hiekkaharju campus and decided on the recipients of the City of Vantaa’s 2021 cultural prizes.
The city executive board decided to grant the following two 2021 Vantaa cultural prizes: the prize to a person with significant art and cultural merits, as well as the prize for a significant cultural act. The recipients will be published on November 10, at the city's first cultural gala at Cultural House Martinus. In the future, Vantaa Cultural Gala will be arranged in mid-November each year.
Länsimäki to gain 2,700 new housing units
The city executive board decided to make the new Länsimäki disposition plan available for public inspection. The disposition plan will focus on the development of downtown Länsimäki up to year 2045. The plan makes it possible for Länsimäki to gain around 2,700 new housing units and 4,400 residents. Thus, Länsimäki’s population could rise up to 10,000. The number of potential new jobs in the area amounts to around 100.
Varia’s Hiekkaharju campus to undergo basic renovation
The city executive board ratified the needs assessment plan for Varia’s Hiekkaharju campus. After completion of the alteration and basic renovation, the school will accommodate altogether 1,285 students.
