Vantaa City Council ratified the plan for equality and non-discrimination work – each department to define its own goals and measures
Vantaa city council ratified in its meeting on March 28, the plan for equality and non-discrimination work.
The plan outlines the goals and measures with which Vantaa will meet the challenges of non-discrimination and promoting of equality between the sexes and non-discrimination compliant with the Act on Equality between Women and Men and the Non-Discrimination Act.
Vantaa city council had its meeting at the City Hall in Tikkurila after a long break. In the meeting, the city council ratified the plan for equality and non-discrimination work, named: “Equality and non-discrimination are not. They are made.” The first section of the three-part plan sets the foundation on which the city's equality and non-discrimination work will be built. The second section outlines the decisionmaking and service work in accordance with the framework of the Act on Equality between Women and Men and the Non-Discrimination Act. The third part describes how the city will conduct HR equality and non-discrimination work. The departments and service areas will handle the plan in their management groups. They will concretize what the goals and measures, as well as their implementation, mean especially in the department in question.
The city council was informed of the number of city-council initiatives submitted last year, altogether 81 initiatives. In 2020, 32 city-council initiatives were submitted, which means that their number has significantly increased in the election year. The subjects of the initiatives mostly focus on the Urban environment department.
The city council also entered for information the 2021 HR report.
