Sports clubs and associations

The City of Vantaa supports the activities of sports clubs through sports grants and by allowing them to use the city's sports facilities. Different sports clubs meet regularly at Seurafoorumi events.

Approximately 200 sports organisations and clubs operate in Vantaa. The clubs organise many of the sports and fitness services intended for local residents. The City of Vantaa supports the organisation of activities through a range of various grants, including an annual action aid applied for in February.

The City also supports local sports clubs by granting them the right to use its sports facilities. Clubs can apply for slots at facilities such as school and day-care centre gyms, sports centres, swimming halls and outdoor playing fields. There are specific application periods for each facility.

The sports and fitness services of Vantaa organise regular discussion events called Seurafoorumi for local sports clubs and associations. These events are also a good place to meet other operators and people working in sports and fitness services.

Seurafoorumi events

The sports and fitness services of Vantaa organise discussion events called Seurafoorumi approximately twice a year. These events bring together representatives of the City and local sports clubs as well as other relevant people. The topics of past events have included sports grants, distribution of slots, the strategy of sports and fitness services, and organisational changes.
