The City is Improving Safety and Well-being Around Myyrmäki Station
The City of Vantaa is investing in safety in the area around Myyrmäki Station. Several safety-enhancing measures will be implemented in central Myyrmäki, with a focus on the station area and the surrounding streets.
The City of Vantaa’s goal is a safe and pleasant environment for everyone in Myyrmäki.
Well-being is improved, for example, by cleaning up the station area, removing graffiti, clearing vegetation, and repairing broken pavers.
The revitalization has begun – the downtown area is being transformed into a welcoming space
In the fall of 2025, a footbridge in poor condition was demolished, along with the staircase leading to it on Liesikuja. Similarly, the Paalukylänpuisto Park was renovated, and the lighting along the walkways was improved.
The renovation of Artsinpolku will be completed in 2026.
Surveillance and guidance in the centre of Myyrmäki will be increased
In the longer term, signage, traffic signs, plantings that guide movement in the area, and street furniture will also be reviewed in the area around Myyrmäki Station. Additionally, surveillance of the area will be increased.
Although most of the measures focus on the street environment and the area around the station, the lighting in the Myyrmäki station hall and accessible wayfinding are also on the list of improvement projects.
The increased presence of urban art also plays an important role, as art strengthens the area’s identity and supports residents’ connection to their neighborhood.
The livability and safety of Myyrmäki are being improved through cooperation between the City of Vantaa, the Vantaa and Kerava welfare area, the police, and civic organizations.
