In Vantaa’s upper secondary schools and the vocational college Varia, student welfare is promoted both on the individual and communal levels. Experts in student welfare services support students with various problems and issues.

Student welfare

Student welfare aims to promote learning and health and well-being, as well as to attend to well-being in the school community and the healthiness and safety of the study environment. These are provided both individually and at the communal level. Student welfare is the duty of all who work in the educational institutions and are responsible for student welfare services.

In all Vantaa’s upper secondary schools and the vocational college Varia, there are communal welfare groups (CWG), whose task is to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate their school’s student welfare activities. The students of the schools and Varia have at their disposal services such as psychologists, social workers, and student health services. All these are part of student welfare. When required, students can also receive special support for their studies.

The upper secondary schools and Varia have invested, for instance, in supporting difficulties with reading and writing, learning to learn, and study progress.
