Changes to the Tikkurilantie construction sites from 9 November

News

The Vantaa Light Rail construction site on Tikkurilantie will expand westwards, causing extensive changes to traffic arrangements in November and December. The arrangements will be implemented in two phases.

During the week beginning 9 November, the section of Tikkurilantie between Kiitoradantie and Kuriirikuja will be closed to traffic. Traffic will be diverted. Vehicle traffic from the north will follow the route Tikkurilantie-Manttaalitie-Pyhtäänkorventie-Ilmakehä-Niittytie-Kuriirikuja-Tikkurilantie. South of Tikkurilantie, motor traffic will travel via Ring III.

Walking and cycling routes will also change, and we will provide separate information about them through the project's channels. Pedestrians and cyclists will be able to travel from Tikkurilantie to the other side of Tuusulanväylä via Ohkolanpolku, which is located 350 metres north of Tikkurilantie.

Bus routes will change

HSL provides information about changes to bus services:

Bus routes 570 and 570N to be diverted in Veromies and Koivuhaka from 9 November

Bus routes 571, 623 and 633N to be diverted in Koivuhaka and Viertola from 9 November

Streets will open to traffic

The worksites that have been closed for almost a year are nearing completion. Next, the builders will move on to constructing the light rail, which means that construction site areas will remain, but they will be considerably smaller.

During the week beginning 9 November, the section of Tikkurilantie between Kuriirikuja and Osmankäämintie will reopen to traffic.

At the end of December, the project will reopen the section of Tikkurilantie from Osmankäämintie to Talvikkitie to traffic. We will announce the exact date later.

Noisy work to begin

Work causing noise in the area includes piling, sheet piling and ramming. As a rule, we carry out noisy work on weekdays, Monday to Friday, from 7:00 to 18:00 and, when necessary, on Saturdays from 7:00 to 18:00.

At other times, we will carry out individual work phases that must be performed for traffic-related or maintenance-related reasons. We will provide separate information about noisy work carried out at exceptional times. We apologise for the disturbance and thank you for your patience.

New underground infrastructure completed

Construction of the Vantaa Light Rail began on Tikkurilantie in December 2025. After a year of work, we have, among other things, rebuilt the Kylmäoja bridge and carried out extensive ground reinforcement work over an area of several kilometres. In addition, we have built new water supply infrastructure and a modern stormwater management system in the area. The electricity, telecommunications and other cables running beneath Tikkurilantie have been renewed.

The new work phase now beginning is estimated to last approximately one year. During this phase, we will, among other things, build a new bridge for the light rail next to the existing bridge crossing Tuusulanväylä.

The construction work in the area was commissioned by the City of Vantaa, and Destia is the contractor.
