Construction of the light rail on Tikkurilantie
Follow the progress of light rail construction between Veromies and Tikkurila. In the future, the light rail will run along Tikkurilantie, passing through the Annefred, Koivuhaka, and Viertola, ending at the old silk factory of Tikkurila.

Information will be updated as construction advances. The preliminary schedule may change, for example due to weather conditions, for example. Content updated on September 21st, 2026.
June–September 2026
In the eastern section of Tikkurilantie between Puutarhatie and Kielotie:
- Construction of the pile slab: excavation, piling, reinforcement, and concrete works
- Pipe works, kerbstone installation, asphalting, street lighting works
On the eastern section of Tikkurilantie between Niittytie and Puutarhatie:
- Ground improvement works and relocation of municipal utilities
October–December 2026
- According to current plans, the aim is to reopen Tikkurilantie between Kuriirikuja and Osmankäämintie to vehicle traffic in November 2026. The section between Osmankäämintie and Talvikkitie is expected to reopen to vehicle traffic in late December 2026.
- The following traffic arrangements will be in place on the Western and central sections of Tikkurilantie, between the Kiitoradantie ramp and Puutarhatie:
- In October–November, the section between the Kiitoradantie ramp and Kuriirikuja will be closed to through traffic. The cross connections at Niittytie and Ohtolankatu will remain open to traffic.
- Diversion routes will run via Kuriirikuja–Niittytie–Ilmakehä–Manttaalitie.
- Preparatory work for the Annefred light rail bridge is scheduled to begin in October. At this stage, Tuusulanväylä will be narrowed and the speed limit will be reduced, but it will still be possible to cross Tuusulanväylä via Tikkurilantie. Construction of the bridge itself will begin later in the autumn. At that stage, vehicle traffic on Tuusulanväylä will be diverted to temporary lanes, and temporary bus stops will be introduced approximately 100–200 metres from their current locations. Traffic arrangements on Tikkurilantie will also change at this later stage, and we will provide separate information about these changes.
